In a historic win, South African animators Sipho Dlamini and Thandiwe Nkosi have secured an Emmy Award for their animated short film Ubuntu’s Journey. The film explores themes of unity and resilience through the adventures of its titular character, Ubuntu.
The duo’s innovative storytelling and unique animation style have garnered international acclaim, shining a spotlight on Africa’s burgeoning animation industry.
Dlamini expressed gratitude during their acceptance speech, stating, “This award is a victory for African animators. It proves that our stories have universal appeal and the power to touch hearts globally.”
